Our story
Welcome to Yanko, the latest venture by 7 Hills, nestled in the heart of Montenegro’s pristine landscape. The story of Yanko begins in the historic region of Jankovic Krs, where 7Hills acquired a pristine portion of land to develop an eco-friendly project, nestled on the border of Skadar Lake National Park.
As we embarked on this journey to create a sustainable haven, we discovered the land’s hidden treasures: wild juniper trees and a variety of botanicals, including rosemary, lavender, wild mint, and wild pomegranate. These native ingredients inspired us to create a unique line of spirits and liqueurs that capture the essence of our land.
Heritage and Tradition
Montenegro is renowned for its production of wine, homemade rakija, and various liqueurs. This tradition is deeply rooted in the culture and history of the region. My daughter’s grandmother, who lived near Skadar Lake, still produces homemade rose liqueur using a secret recipe passed down through generations. This legacy of craftsmanship is the cornerstone that inspired Yanko Gin.
A Modern Distillery with a Historical Soul
Yanko is inspired by the name Jankovic, a name that represents both the family and the land. For over 500 years, the Jankovic family has cared for and nurtured this territory, preserving its natural beauty and heritage. This deep-rooted connection to the land is the foundation of Yanko, embodying the spirit and tradition of Montenegro in every bottle.
From Land to Bottle
The abundance of juniper trees in Jankovic Krs inspired us to create a London Dry Gin. With the support of the Ministry of Agriculture of Montenegro and the University of Sarajevo, our team of experts developed three unique gin formulas, incorporating botanicals sourced directly from our land.

Yanko London Dry Gin, housed in a distinctive black bottle inspired by Montenegro’s moniker “Black Mountain,” embodies the spirit and resilience of our country. As we await the final authorization for our product, we are excited to share this journey with you and introduce you to the exceptional taste of Yanko Gin.
